Gainesville Coins is thrilled to offer the spectacular 2017 Korea 1 oz Chiwoo Cheonwang Silver Medallion, the second release in the Chiwoo Cheonwang silver series. With a mintage of only 50,000 each of these silver medallions contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver and is struck from .999 fine silver. Produced by the South Korean Mint, KOMSCO, these beautiful and innovative pieces originate from the Republic of Korea and have a face value of 1 Clay.
The subject of the medal is Chiwoo Cheonwang, the widely recognized mascot of the Red Devils, the nickname for the passionate supporters of the Korean national soccer team. In Korean tradition, Chiwoo is considered the God of War and is depicted as a valiant warrior on horseback with a spear, shield, and full body armor. This image is rendered in exquisite detail on the reverse design, flanked by the legend "CHIWOO CHEONWANG" along the top-left portion of the rim.
The obverse design shows a close-up view of Chiwoo's shield, an intimidating devil-like mask. It is surrounded by inscriptions for the year-date "2017," the precious metal content "FINE SILVER 999," the issuing country "REPUBLIC OF KOREA," the face value "1 CLAY," and the manufacturer "KOMSCO." Just beneath the shield is a special latent image mark that ensures the authenticity of the medallion.
The Chiwoo Cheonwang silver series debuted in 2016 and boasts an even more majestic design for 2017! Each silver medallion measures 40 mm across and 2.69 mm thick. The 2017 Korea 1 oz Silver Chiwoo Cheonwang can be purchased individually, in mint rolls of 25 pieces. You can add this captivating silver piece from Korea to your collection for a low premium over spot at Gainesville Coins!
