1925-S Peace Dollar Value

Mintage: 1,610,000

Finest Known: MS66 (NGC) MS65+ (PCGS)

Auction Record: $50,400 (MS65)

Unfortunately, the 1925-S Peace dollar did nothing to improve the reputation of the San Francisco Mint when it came to strike quality. The 1.6 million dollar mintage was apparently enough to satisfy regional demand, as silver dollars only circulated in the Western US.

The Value of a 1925-S Peace Dollar

The 1925-S Peace dollar isn’t as plagued with excessive bag marks as some other years, but the weak strike keeps it from taking full advantage of a generally nice appearance. The fact that the $50,400 auction record is held by a MS65 is a testament to how the coin’s soft strike holds it back from higher grades.
