The first Peace dollar struck at the Denver Mint, the 1922-D is also the largest Peace dollar mintage from Denver. This massive mintage was achieved in part by using the coin dies until they broke. This has resulted in eleven types of die breaks and doubled dies being widespread enough to earn VAM variety designations.
