Many 1891-S Morgan dollars were released into circulation in the years after being struck. Most of the bags that remained in San Francisco Mint vaults were disbursed along the West Coast from the early 1940s to 1950s.
The Value of an 1891-S Morgan Dollar
A common date Morgan dollar, the 1891-S is plentiful in circulated to low Mint State grades. The 1891-S has good strikes and luster, especially for a San Francisco issue. Copious bag marks keep most uncirculated coins below Gem grade, which is a shame. The few examples that grade above MS65 are quite rare.
