The Value of An 1880-O Morgan Dollar
The 1880-O Morgan dollar is a famous conditional rarity. It is one of the most expensive of all Morgan dollars at MS65. The finest known 1880-O Morgan at NGC is MS65. PCGS has graded eight at MS65+, and only two at MS66.
This isn't caused by any weakness in strike, as is the case for many other New Orleans dates. It is due to most of the mintage going into circulation soon after they were made.
