Commemorative Dollar Values (1983–Present)
2018 world war one centennial commemorative silver proof reverse angle 768x768
The Modern Commemorative Coin era began in 1982, with a clad half dollar issued to commemorate the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. Clad half dollar and silver dollar commemoratives have been released together with the same design since 1983.
From 1983 through 2018, silver dollar commemoratives were issued using the official .900 fine silver dollar specifications. These silver dollars are the same weight, size, and purity of the classic Morgan dollars and Peace dollars.
The U.S. Mint changed to using a .999 pure silver planchet for $1 silver commemoratives with the 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary coin. The new silver commemoratives retain the same weight and diameter of the classic silver dollar, but switches the purity from .900 to .999.
