The Denver Mint had gotten its groove back in 1970. The strike and luster on the 1970-D Jefferson nickel recalled the very nice Denver nickels of the early years.
The Value of A 1970-D Jefferson Nickel
A common-date coin, the 1969-D Jefferson nickel is available in all grades up to MS65, with MS 66 examples relatively affordable. Despite a good strike and nice luster, Full Step examples are practically unknown. PCGS has only graded four 1970-D Jefferson nickels as Full Steps, and NGC has graded none.
