The Value of A 1949-S Jefferson Nickel
Hopes that the low mintage would equal a payday later on, many collectors saved rolls of 1949-S Jefferson nickels, only to be disappointed. The 1949-S suffers from the same flaws as most San Francisco coins—dies used far past the point where they should have been replaced. Repeated polishing removed much of the finer details on the dies, which makes Full Steps examples rare.
