The Value of A 1929-S Buffalo Nickel
The 1929-S Buffalo nickel is common in circulated grades, and scarce in Mint State only at the highest levels. Many 1929-S Buffalo nickels sat in the vaults at the San Francisco Mint after the stock market crash in 1929 and the first couple of years of the Great Depression. Interest in collecting Buffalo nickels by date had started picking up by the time the 1929-Ss were released into circulation, allowing for more Mint State examples to be saved, compared to other issues in the 1920s.
