The Great Motorcycles of the 30s series includes motorcycle-themed coins that could make a grown man cry. This 1932 Brough Superior SS100 is just one of the motorcycles we carry here at Gainesville Coins.

The obverse of the coin, or obverse, features Queen Elizabeth II as depicted by Raphael Maklouf, and the reverse, or back of the coin, showcases the full-color Brough Superior SS100 and the maker's badge. It also has a uniquely engraved tire tread edge.

The Brough Superior SS100 first appeared at the Olympia exhibit show in 1924, and the last one was built in 1940. The Superior SS100 was one of many memorable exotic motorcycles created by George Brough, this model was made exclusively for T.E. Lawrence, or "Lawrence of Arabia," as he was better known, who owned seven Broughs, six of which were model SS100s. The Brough Superior SS100, or "Boanerges," meaning "Son of Thunder," as Mr. Lawrence called it, was the motorcycle that T.E. Lawrence was riding on when he died in 1935. The Brough Superior SS100 was the fastest, smoothest, and most expensive motorcycle on British roads in the 1930s, with speeds of up to 100 mph and a price tag, then, of 170 pounds.
