The 2021 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle bullion coin is part of the last mintage of the American Eagle program to use the original design.
The original "Family of Eagles" reverse by Miley Busiek will be replaced mid-year by Jennie Norris' "Eagle Head" design. Thus, the 2021 American Gold Eagle bullion coins will be minted with two different reverse designs.
The original design will be retired upon the introduction of the new reverse, never to be minted again. The exact date of the change-over is not known.
A new remastered obverse will be introduced with the new reverse. The famous 1907 Saint-Gaudens double eagle design, which has been used since the introduction of the AGE in 1986 has been retained. Taking advantage of 35 years of progress in minting technology, the US Mint made all-new master hubs for each size American Gold Eagle coin. These new hubs bring greater detail to Saint-Gaudens' design than the previous hubs.
This transition year of 2021 will ignite great collector demand for all sizes in the American Gold Eagle program. The 2021 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle bullion coin is affordable enough that nearly anyone who wants can buy one of each design.
