In terms of silver content, each coin contains 1 troy oz of fine silver. They are struck from .9999 fine silver (99.99% pure). Each Silver Maple is legal tender, backed by the full faith and credit of the Canadian government.

A portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse. Her Majesty is shown facing right, adorned by a pearl necklace but without her royal crown. A gorgeous radial line finish is used for the background. Her name "ELIZABETH II" is inscribed at the top rim. The denomination "5 DOLLARS" and the year-date "2021" are placed at the bottom rim. The edge design is reeded.

The same radial line finish is used for the reverse. Walter Ott's famous maple leaf design is used for the foreground. An even smaller maple leaf below functions as a clever anti-counterfeiting measure. Under magnification, the date "21" is found within this privy mark. "9999" is inscribed on either side of the larger maple leaf, indicating the coin's purity. Inscriptions around the outer rim include the issuing country "CANADA" and the specifications "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR."
