Reverse
The reverse of the 2021 Silver Ox Lunar coin features a mother ox and calf standing under a blossoming cherry tree. The word "Ox" in Chinese and English, with the date 2021, appear above the calf. Farm fields and a mountain village portrayed on the left side of the coin gives a sense of depth to the scene. The design is by Perth Mint artist Ing Jong, whose initials appear on the front hoof of the mother ox.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2021 Lunar Ox 2 oz silver coin shows the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Elizabeth is the symbolic ruler of Australia, as she is many other former British colonies that are now nations of the Commonwealth. From upper left to lower right, the inscriptions along the rim read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2 DOLLARS, and 2 oz .9999 Ag.
Were You Born in the Year of the Ox?
2021 is the Year of the Ox in the Chinese Lunar calendar. Previous years of the Ox are 2009, 1997, 1985, and 1973. There are five elements that rotate among the Lunar animals: Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood, and Water. 2021 is the year of the Metal Ox. The Metal Ox is hard working and active, always busy with something or the other. The Metal Ox is more social than other Oxen, and is popular among friends and coworkers.
People born in the Year of the Ox are loyal, honest, and dependable. They bring intelligence and a logical approach to their work. Their emphasis on hard work and reliability leads them to seek steady, long-term careers. They can often become workaholics, especially at a job that interests them.
The Ox holds faith and family as the most important parts of life, despite sometime losing themselves in their work. They believe that hard work and education are their children's keys to a better life. Their conservative values lead them to respect tradition. This can sometimes cause them to be strict parents.
