Peak Population And What It Means For Global Resources
What is Peak Population? This is the point where the Earth's resources can no longer meet the demands of an exploding population. As the number of people in China, India, and many nations in Africa dramatically increase, they demand not only the basic necessities of life, but also want a standard of living comparable to Europe and North America. These demands are impossible to meet with the resources left on our planet. Even now, water and food scarcity plague many areas of the globe.
How will the world be able to meet the demands of billions more people wanting good food, clean water, and consumer goods? It can't. This means rising prices, scarcity of resources, and economic and political turmoil. Part One of our Peak Population Infographic series from Visual Capitalist lays out the facts that we are all facing.
